The Siskiyou Lady Riders started as one woman’s curiosity about how many
women motorcyclists she could find in this area. She put together a Local
Women's Ride, and it has turned into an annual event. Our group was formed
after the first “Ladies Tea House Run” in June of 2004. The event brought
this northern California County together for the first time along with women
motorcyclists from neighboring counties in two states: Shasta and Siskiyou
counties in Northern California and Jackson and Josephine counties in
Southern Oregon. Several members for WITW Chapter attended that first year.
The Siskiyou Lady Riders put on our second Ladies Tea House Run in June of
2005 but found that without the aid of a non profit organization status,
donations for our well planned event were difficult to take in as often
times people wanted to write a check but to whom. In 2005, with the
extended invitation from the WITW Wild Rogue chapter, we became our own
northern California chapter and since then the group has flourished.
In the years since we were founded, the group has grown to over 20 members.
Enthusiasm for the sport has sparked new friendships and rides that other
groups look forward to attending. We take our riding seriously and have
even set up a Rider Skills course at a little used county airport so we
can practice our skills often.
We take pride in showing off our county as it is located in most northern
part of California just below the Oregon border. We enjoy miles and miles
of uncluttered roads and some of the most scenic highways in the state. The
Tea House Run has also grown and changed a bit. This year, the Tea House
Ride In will be a 3 day event of glorious rides and a Bar B Q at the base
of Mt Shasta. The event will be on June 20-22nd and will be a great place
to go for those who can’t make it to the Edmonton Summer Nationals.
